On this day June 22 in 1968 – With his studio album ‘The Dock of the Bay’, Ottis Redding went to No.1 in the UK. The album was the first of many posthumously released records following the artist’s untimely death in a plane crash a few months earlier.

2013 – Robin Thicke ft. T.T. & Pharrell Williams hit No.1 on the US Billboard Hot 100 chart with ‘Blurred Lines’ for the first of twelve consecutive weeks. The song was a bit worldwide hit topping the singles charts in 25 countries.
2013 – Heavy metal pioneers Black Sabbath reached number one in the UK with their nineteenth and final studio album ’13’ . By doing so, the band set a new record for the longest gap between chart-toppers on the UK Albums chart. It was their first No.1 since ‘Paranoid’ in 1970.

1939 – English singer and drummer Robert “Bobby” Harrison was born in London. Best known for playing with the rock band Procol Harum in the 1960s.
1944 – English singer, guitarist, manager and producer Peter Asher was born in London. He rose to fame as one half of the pop music duo Peter and Gordon.
