On this day September 7 in 1957 – Elvis Presley was at number one in the UK with his first soundtrack album ‘Loving You’. It was also a chart-topper in the US where it spent 10 weeks at No.1

1957 – Sam Cooke released his debut single ‘You Send Me’ on Keen Records. It became a big hit and it topped both the Billboard R&B and Pop charts.

1965 – The Rolling Stones finished recording ‘Get Off of My Cloud’ on this day September 7. The song was released two-weeks later and it became a chart-topper in Canada, Germany, South Africa, the US, and the UK.

1968 – With their third studio album ‘Waiting for the Sun’The Doors went to number one on the US Billboard 200 chart. The album features the band’s first No.1 single ‘Hello, I Love You’.

1968 – The New Yardbirds (Robert Plant, Jimmy Page, John Bonham & John Paul Jones) performed together live for the first time at a show in Copenhagen, Denmark. Six weeks later they changed the band’s name to Led Zeppelin.
