On this day September 10 in 1954 – Kitty Kallen topped the UK Singles chart with ‘Little Things Mean a Lot’. A week earlier she was also at No.1 in the US with the same song.
1960 – German orchestra 101 Strings had the number one album in the UK with ‘Down Drury Lane to Memory Lane’.
1964 – With ‘You Really Got Me’, The Kinks went to number one in the UK on this day September 10 in music history. The song was a hit in North America as well, peaking at No.7 in the US and No.4 in Canada.
1966 – The Beatles started a six-week run at number one on the US Billboard 200 chart with their seventh studio album ‘Revolver’. The album also reached No.1 in the UK, West Germany, Australia, Finland, and Sweden.
1966 – The Supremes topped the US Billboard Hot 100 chart with ‘You Can’t Hurry Love’. Sixteen years later in 1982, the song became a chart-topping hit for Phil Collins.
