On this day November 9 in 1958 – Elvis Presley‘s hit single ‘Hound Dog’ became the third song to sell over 1 million copies. The other two million-selling songs at the time were ‘White Christmas’ by Bing Crosby and ‘Rudolph The Red-Nosed Reindeer’ by Gene Autry.
1961 – With ‘(Marie’s the Name) His Latest Flame’/’Little Sister’, Elvis Presley hit No.1 on the UK Singles chart for the first of four consecutive weeks.
1974 – Canadian rock band Bachman-Turner Overdrive (BTO) topped the US Billboard Hot 100 with ‘You Ain’t Seen Nothing Yet’.

1941 – American guitarist and founding member of Creedence Clearwater Revival, Thomas “Tom” Fogerty was born in Berkeley, California. He’s also the older brother of John Fogerty.
1943 – Singer, songwriter, and keyboardist Dennis “Denny” Provisor was born in Los Angeles, California.
1944 – Singer-songwriter Philip “Phil” May was born in Dartford, England. He rose to fame as a founding member and frontman of the band Pretty Things.
1946 – Singer and songwriter Ruben Armand “Benny” Mardones was born in Cleveland, Ohio. Best known for his hit single ‘Into the Night’.
1948 – Multi-instrumentalist, singer and songwriter Joseph “Joe” Bouchard was born in Watertown, New York. He rose to fame as a member of the rock band Blue Öyster Cult.
