1965 – Pop rock group The Hollies scored their first number one single in the United Kingdom with ‘I’m Alive’. It held the top spot for three non-consecutive weeks.

1967 The Monkees scored their third number one album of the year in the US with ‘Headquarters’ on this day June 24 in music history. They previously topped the Billboard 200 chart with ‘The Monkees’ and ‘More of the Monkees’ for 23 consecutive weeks.

1974 – The Beach Boys released the compilation album ‘Endless Summer’ on Capitol Records. It features hits from the 1962-65 period and it topped the charts in the US and Canada.

1989 – Singer and songwriter Richard Marx scored his second of three consecutive number one singles on the US Billboard Hot 100 chart with ‘Satisfied’ on this day June 24.

1989 – R&B group Soul II Soul featuring singer Caron Wheeler started a four-week stint at No.1 on the UK Singles chart with ‘Back to Life (However Do You Want Me)’.
