1962 – Pianist, composer, songwriter and orchestra leader David Rose topped the US Billboard Hot 100 chart with the instrumental song ‘The Stripper’.
1966 – Rock band The Kinks reached number one in the UK with ‘Sunny Afternoon’ on this day July 7 in music history. The song was also a chart-topper in Canada, Ireland, Norway, and the Netherlands that year.
1967 – The Beatles released ‘All You Need Is Love’ as a non-album single. The song reached number one in eleven countries worldwide that year.
1969 – John Lennon released the anti-war song ‘Give Peace a Chance’ on this day July 7 in the US. It peaked at No.14 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and reached No.2 in the UK, and it also became the anthem of the anti-war movement in America during the 1970s.
