On this day November 27 in 1967 – The Beatles released their double EP ‘Magical Mystery Tour’ in the US which also served as the soundtrack to their TV film of the same name.
1969 – The Rolling Stones performed at Madison Square Garden in New York City. The show was recorded and parts of it were included in the band’s live album ‘Get Yer Ya-Ya’s Out’ which became a chart-topper in the UK.
1970 – George Harrison released his third solo studio album ‘All Things Must Pass’. The album peaked at No.1 in eight countries worldwide and it features the chart-topping singles ‘My Sweet Lord’/’Isn’t It a Pity’ and ‘What Is Life’.
1976 – American musician Glen Campbell started a six-week stint at the top of the UK Albums chart with his greatest hits compilation ’20 Golden Greats’.
1982 – With ‘Truly’, Lionel Richie started a two-week run at number one on the US Billboard Hot 100 chart. Also a chart-topper in Canada and a No.6 hit in the UK.
1982 – With their double compilation album ‘The Singles – The First Ten Years’, pop group ABBA reached No.1 in the UK.
1993 – Meat Loaf made a fifth comeback at the top of the UK Albums chart with ‘Bat Out of Hell II – Back Into Hell’. He topped the chart until the end of year (five weeks).
1999 – Country music singer Faith Hill topped the US Billboard 200 chart with her fourth studio album ‘Breathe’.
1999 – With her first English-language greatest hits compilation ‘All the Way…A Decade of Song’, Canadian pop star Celine Dion topped the UK Albums chart.
1999 – The number one single in the United Kingdom on this day was ‘King of My Castle’ by the electronic music producer Wamdue Project.

2009 – American pop music singer and composer Al Alberts died at the age of 87.
2010 – Pop group Take That started a six-week stint at No.1 on the UK Albums chart with ‘Progress’, their fifth consecutive domestic chart-topper.
2010 – Hip hop group Fast East Movement featuring The Cataracs and Dev returned to number one on the US Singles chart with ‘Like a G6’.
2010 – Scottish singer Susan Boyle started a two-week run at No.1 on the US Billboard 200 with her second studio album ‘The Gift’. It also reached No.1 in the UK, Canada, the Netherlands, and New Zealand.
2010 – With ‘I Love You More’, British boy band JLS scored their fourth domestic chart-topping single.
2012 – American guitarist and one half of the R&B duo Mickey & Sylvia, MacHouston “Mickey” Baker died at the age of 87.
2021 – Taylor Swift topped the US Billboard Hot 100 chart with a re-recorded version of her own 2012 song ‘All Too Well’. She also took the top spot on the Billboard 200 chart on this day November 27 with her second re-recorded album ‘Red’.

1953 – Pioneer of Russian rock music Boris Grebenshchikov was born in Leningrad, Soviet Union. He rose to fame as the founder and frontman of the band Aquarium.
1959 – Founding member and guitarist of the rock band Simple Minds, Charlie Burchill was born in Glasgow, Scotland.
1960 – Grammy Award-winning jazz orchestra leader and pianist Maria Lynn Schneider was born on this day in Windom, Minnesota.
