On this day November 26 in 1954 – With her rendition of ‘The Ole House’Rosemary Clooney ft. Buddy Cole & His Orchestra topped the UK Singles chart.

1958 – Johnny Cash debuted on the US Billboard Country chart with his single ‘Cry! Cry! Cry!’. His next seven singles reached Top 10 on the chart with two of them hitting number one.

1962The Beatles recorded ‘Please Please Me’ and ‘Ask Me Why’. Both songs featured on their debut studio album.

1968 – At the Royal Albert Hall in London, rock supergroup Cream played their farewell concert. The band did not reunite until four decades later in 2005.

1973 – English bassist and songwriter John Rostill died from barbiturate poisoning, aged 31. Best known remembered for his work with the instrumental rock group The Shadows.

1976 – Punk rock pioneers The Sex Pistols released their debut single ‘Anarchy In The UK’. The song peaked at No.38 in the UK and it went on to achieve cult status in the punk music scene.

1977 – With their greatest hits compilation ‘The Sound of Bread, Their 20 Finest Songs’, soft rock band Bread topped the UK Albums chart.

1982 – Led Zeppelin released their compilation album of rejected tracks ‘Coda’ through Swan Song Records. It became a Top 10 hit in North America, the UK, Finland, Germany, Australia, and New Zealand.

2016 – Hip hop duo Rae Sremmurd featuring rapper Gucci Mane hit No.1 on the US Singles chart with ‘Black Beatles’ for the first of six consecutive weeks.

2016 – The number one album in the United States on this day was ‘The House Is Not for Sale’ by the rock band Bon Jovi.

2020 – Hard rock band AC/DC scored their third number one album in the UK with ‘Power Up’. The album was a worldwide hit and it peaked at No.1 in 20 other countries as well.

1924 – British traditional pop music singer Norman Alexander Milne also known professionally as Michael Holliday was born in Liverpool, England. Best known for his chart-topping singles ‘Starry Eyed’ and ‘The Story of My Life’.

1937 – Hungarian-American bassist Bob Babbitt was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He came to prominence as a member of the studio band The Funk Brothers.

1939 – Singer and actress Tina Turner dubbed the ‘Queen of Rock ‘n’ Roll’ was born Anna Mae Bullock in Nutbush, Tennessee.  She rose to fame as one half of the husband-and-wife musical duo Ike & Tina Turner before establishing herself as solo artist.

1939 – British jazz saxophonist and orthopedic surgeon Arthur “Art” Themen was born in Manchester, England.

1939 – Singer-songwriter David White was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Best known as a co-founder of the groups Danny & the Juniors and The Spokesmen.

1940 – British folk guitarist and songwriter David “Davey” Graham was born in Market Bosworth, England.

1944 – R&B and jazz music singer Jean Terrell was born in Chicago, Illinois. Best known as the lead singer of The Supremes.

1948 – American singer Gayle McCormick was born in St. Louis, Missouri. She rose to fame as the lead vocalist of the rock band Smith.

1963 – American musician Adam Gaynor was born in Manhattan, New York. Best known as the rhythm guitarist of the rock band Matchbox Twenty.

1967 – Multi-instrumentalist, songwriter, and producer John Stirratt was born in New Orleans, Louisiana. Best known for his work with the bands The Autumn Defense and Wilco.

1975 – DJ, producer, and record executive Khaled Mohammed Khaled also known as DJ Khaled was born in New Orleans, Louisiana.

1984 – American musician Ben Wysocki was born in Colorado. He rose to fame as the drummer of the rock band The Fray.
