On this day August 10 in 1956 – Doris Day started a six-week run at No.1 in the UK with ‘Que Sera, Sera (Whatever Will Be, Will Be)’.
1959 – Elvis Presley reached number one on the US Billboard Hot 100 chart with ‘A Big Hunk o’ Love’. In the UK the song peaked at No.4.
1961 – At the age of 14, Helen Shapiro became the youngest artist to top the UK Singles chart with ‘You Don’t Know’ on this day August 10.
1963 – Thirteen-year-old Stevie Wonder hit No.1 on the US Billboard Hot 100 chart with ‘Fingertips’ for the first of three weeks straight. The song featured on his first live album ‘The 12 Year Old Genius’ which was also a chart-topper.
1968 – With his sixth studio album ‘Delilah’, Tom Jones reached number one in the UK on this day August 10 in music history.
1968 – Rock supergroup Cream started a four-week stint at No.1 on the US Billboard 200 chart with their third studio album ‘Wheels of Fire’. The album also reached number one in Canada and Australia while in the UK it peaked at No.3.

2002 – Bruce Springsteen topped the UK Albums chart with his twelfth studio release ‘The Rising’. The album reached No.1 in eleven other countries, including the US, and it earned him a Grammy Award for Best Rock Album.

2013 – American country music singer Jody Payne died at the age of 77. Best remembered as the longtime guitarist in Willie Nelson’s backing band The Family.
2013 – Selena Gomez topped the US Billboard 200 chart with her debut solo studio album ‘Stars Dance’ on this day August 10 in music history. The album was an international hit and it also went to No.1 in Canada, China, Mexico, Norway, and Taiwan.
2013 – Welsh operatic duo Richard & Adam started a four-week run at No.1 in the UK with ‘The Impossible Dream’.

2019 – American rapper Nathan Feuerstein also known as NF went to number one in the US with his fourth studio album ‘The Search’.

1928 – Country music singer, actor, and TV host Jimmy Ray Dean was born on this day in Seth Ward, Texas. Best known for hit songs such as ‘Bumming Around’ and ‘Big Bad John’.
1928 – American singer and actor Edwin Jack Fisher was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He was one of the best-selling artists of the 1950s.
1940 – One half of the musical duo The Righteous Brothers, Robert “Bobby” Hatfield was born in Beaver Dam, Wisconsin on this day August 10 in music history.
1943 – American singer, songwriter, and guitarist James “Jimmy” Griffin was born in Cincinnati, Ohio. Best known as a member of the soft rock band Bread, and for co-writing the Academy Award-winning song ‘For All We Know’.
