On this day November 19 in 1964 – Vocal group The Supremes started a two-week run at number one on the UK Singles chart with ‘Baby Love’.

1966 – Two years later on the same day, The Supremes scored their second No.1 single of the year in the US with ‘You Keep Me Hangin’ On’ which topped the Billboard Hot 100 for two weeks straight.

1983 – British bass guitarist, songwriter, and vocalist Thomas “Tom” Evans committed suicide, aged 36. Best remembered for his work with the rock band Badfinger.

1988 – With ‘The First Time’, American singer Robin Beck hit number one on the UK Singles chart for the first of three consecutive weeks. The song became a chart-topper in eight other countries as well, but it failed to chart in her home country.

1988 – Hard rock band Bon Jovi reached number one on the US Singles chart with ‘Bad Medicine’.

1988 – Australian singer Kylie Minogue went to number one in the United Kingdom with her debut studio album ‘Kylie’.

1992 – American country and pop music singer-songwriter Bobby Russell died at the age of 52. Best remembered for the crossover hit song ‘Saturday Morning Confusion’.

1994 – With their live album ‘MTV Unplugged in New York’Nirvana topped the US Billboard 200 chart. The album was an international hit and it reached No.1 in ten other countries, including the UK and Canada.

2003 – Bassist and co-founder of the bands Humble Pie and Spooky Tooth, Gregory “Greg” Ridley died at the age of 62.

2004 – American record producer, singer, and songwriter Terrence “Terry” Melcher died at age 62.

2005 – The 20th US edition of ‘Now That’s What I Call Music! 20’ released by Universal Records reached No.1 in America. It features twenty hit songs by various artists such as Rihanna, Keith Urban, Coldplay, Weezer, The Pussycat Dolls, Destiny’s Child, and others.

2007 – American singer and songwriter Kevin DuBrow died at the age of 52. Best remembered as the frontman of the heavy metal band Quiet Riot.

2020 – Thirty-two years after topping the UK Albums chart with her debut studio album ‘Kylie’, Kylie Minogue went to No.1 with her fifteenth studio LP ‘Disco’.
