Queen – We Will Rock you | The story behind
We Will Rock You is one of the most popular songs worldwide by the even more popular British rock band – Queen. Written by Brian May in 1977 for Queen’s sixth studio album News of the World, “We will Rock you” became an instant classic. Radio stations literally couldn’t stop playing the song. Certainly there isn’t a person who hasn’t heard “We Will Rock You” at least once in their life. A song that has become an anthem for sporting events alongside “We Are the Champions” which is another classic from the British rock band.
Inspired by the famous show tune “You’ll Never Walk Alone“, Brian May wanted to create a song that can be performed by the audience. So, he created a masterpiece. According to Brian May, this is how it happened.
“We did an encore and then went off. And instead of just keeping clapping, they sang “You’ll Never Walk Alone” to us, and we were just completely knocked out and taken aback – it was quite an emotional experience really, and I think these chant things are in some way connected with that.”
A scene of the creation of “We Will Rock You” is shown in the new trailer from the upcoming movie Bohemian Rhapsody. The scene starts with Brian May trying to come up with a song while Freddie arrives late for rehearsal. The moment is quite tense.
