1972 – After thirteen years of rocking, two name changes, and seven studio albums, Creedence Clearwater Revival (CCR) announced they were disbanding on this day October 16 in music history.

1973 – American jazz drummer, composer, and bandleader Eugene “Gene” Krupa died on this day at the age of 64
