1965 – Rock band The Who recorded ‘My Generation’ which was released as a single on 29 October. The single was an international hit and it became a signature song for the band.

1973 – The Rolling Stones hit number one on the US Billboard 200 with their 13th studio album ‘Goats Head Soup’ for the first of four consecutive weeks on this day October 13 in music history.

1977 – R&B singer Shirley Brickley was murdered by a home intruder at the age of 32. Best remembered for her work with the vocal group The Orlons.

1978 – Rock band Queen released ‘Fat Bottomed Girls’ and ‘Bicycle Race’ as a double A-side single. It peaked at No.1 in the UK and reached No.24 in the US.
